AGGIE
SWIM CLUB COACHES
The coaches' job is to
supervise the competitive swim program. The Aggie Swim Club
coaching staff is dedicated to providing a program for youngsters that will
enable them to learn the value of striving to improve oneself - "to be the
best you can be".

Henry Clark - Senior Coach - TAMU Rec
Center
Henry has been involved in competitive swimming since the age of 5.
He is an
All-American, Senior National and Olympic Trial qualifier, specializing
in butterfly and distance freestyle. As a masters swimmer, Henry
won the men's 40-44 100 meter butterfly in the world record time of
58.20 at the Master's World Championships in 2007. He continues to
train and compete.
Henry has his PhD
in nuclear physics from Ohio University where he swam on full
scholarship for four years and was captain of the team for three.
He
is
originally from Newtown Square, PA where he swam under the tutelage of
Dick Schoulberg of Germantown Academy and Foxcatcher, side by side
Olympians such as David Wharton, David Berkoff and Trina Radtke.
Since beginning to
coach the Ags senior program Henry has helped his swimmers achieve their
goals of qualifying for Sectionals, Zones, Jr. Nationals, Sr. Nationals
and Olympic Trials. Many have gone on to compete at the collegiate
level.

Kevin Herlihy -
Senior Coach - TAMU Rec Center
Kevin is currently working
as a Physical Education teacher at Creekview Elementary School in College
Station. He is a recent graduate of Ashland University in Ohio where
he competed as a scholarship swimmer and was a captain of the team.
Originally from North
Royalton, Ohio, Kevin enjoys competing in triathlons, playing soccer and
cheering for the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes. He has a
passion for developing athlete's potential and pushing them to succeed.
He takes great pride in watching and aiding in the transformation of hard
work into great success.
Kevin has worked with the
Texas A&M Swim Camp during 2010 and 2011 and is in his second year working
with the Aggie Swim Club.

Ryan Goodwyn - Age Group Coach - TAMU Rec Center/College Station Middle
School
Born
in Bryan, Ryan
has been involved with United States Swimming for over twenty years. As an age-group swimmer, he participated with the City of
Plano Swimmers under coach Chris MacCurdy. While there, COPS was
one of the top age-group programs in the nation, winning
several TAGS and Jr. National Championships.
In
high school, Ryan continued his association with COPS while also
swimming for Plano Senior High School. In his senior year, he was the
team captain for the UIL State Champion PSHS team and was named the
fastest public school in the U.S. by Swimming World Magazine. In college, Ryan
swam for Texas A&M University under Mel Nash and Jay Holmes, two
well-respected coaches who have coached for USA National teams. His
specialties while at A&M were distance freestyle and backstroke.
Ryan has been coaching in the B/CS area for over fourteen years on both
the high school and club level. He is beginning his eighth year as the
Head Coach for A&M Consolidated High School. He continues to train
and swim competitively while also coaching and completed a lifelong
dream of swimming the English Channel during the summer of 2004.
Ryan teaches 10th grade honors English at A&M Consolidated High School
and lives in College Station with his wife and best friend, Fara, a PhD
student at Texas A&M studying behavioral analysis and his
thirteen-year-old son, Ras, a swimmer for the Aggie Swim Club. He can be reached most easily by e-mail at

Reed Gerhart
- Age Group Coach - TAMU Rec Center/College Station Middle School
Originally from Lubbock,
Texas, Reed is a sophomore Kinesiology major at Texas A&M. He is
also an A-Battery Recruiting Corporal in the Aggie Corps as well as a
member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band.
Reed competed with the
City of Midland and Lubbock Swim Club, each for three years as well as
competing through high school. This past summer Reed coached with
Lubbock Swim Club and aspires to coach high school swimmers. He
enjoys interacting with the swimmers and helping them reach their goals.

Austin Riley - Age Group Coach - College Station Middle School
Originally from Madison, Wisconsin,
Austin started swimming during his freshman year in high school, where
he competed all four years for the Aggie Swim Club and Consolidated High
School in College Station and was a three time high school regional
qualifier in breaststroke and the IM.
Austin is currently attending Texas A&M
University studying Parks and Recreation and Tourism Science. He enjoys triathlons, reading and spending time with family
and friends. He also enjoys working with kids and was a counselor
with the Texas A&M Swim Camp during the summers of 2008, 2009, 2010
and 2011. Austin is in his 4th year coaching with the Aggie Swim
Club.

Sarah Weber -
Novice Coach - College Station Middle School
Originally from Austin, Sarah began
competitive swimming at the age of 4 with Circle C (now Longhorn Aquatics) and
later with Lost Creek Aquatics and Westlake High School.
Sarah is currently attending Blinn College
where she is working on her prerequisites for sonography. She enjoys helping kids improve and
worked was a counselor/coach with the Texas A&M Swim Camp during the summers of
2009, 2010 and 2011.

Alexis Grothe - Age Group Development Coach - College Station Middle
School
Alexis is from Las Vegas, NV where she grew
up swimming for the Boulder City Henderson Swim Team for 13 years under the
direction of Mike Polk. She is a NCSA Junior National Finalist and a
NCSA All Star Team Member (2007). She has competed at Nationals in New
York in 2007 and Georgia in 2008 and she was the Nevada State Champion in
the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly. Alexis is a Communication major at Texas A&M University.
Alexis has taught stroke technique classes
for junior high swimmers and she enjoys being able to watch kids enjoy the
sport as much as she always has. She has worked with the Aggie Swim
Camp for the last three summers and has been a coach with the Aggie Swim
Club for the last two years.

Erin
Buls
- Age Group Development Coach - TAMU Rec Center
Erin is from
Brenham, Texas where she started swimming at age 8 with the Brenham Dolphins
and continued through high school. She has been coaching the Dolphins
for the last four years working with young swimmers and teaching them proper
technique.
Erin is a
graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's degree in Education.
She is currently substituting in both Bryan and College Station schools.
In her spare
time Erin enjoys hanging out with friends, family and swimming. She
enjoys working with children and helping them to reach their goals.

Stephen Weber - Junior Coach -
Bryan Aquatic Center/TAMU Rec
Stephen is currently
a second year student in Blinn College's Radiology program and is also
taking courses at Midwestern State University working toward a Bachelors
in Radiological Science.
Stephen's swimming
background includes competing for 14 years with Circle C (now Texas
Longhorn Aquatics) and four years for Westlake High School. While
with
Circle C, Stephen was a member of four relay teams that broke National
Age Group Records. He has been coaching with the Aggie Swim Club
for the last five years, with all ages and groups. Stephen has
also worked with the Aggie Swim Camp in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Stephen enjoys being
able to give something back to the swimming community as well as helping
swimmers see the benefits of hard work in and out of the pool. He
enjoys giving back to the sport that gave him so much as a young
athlete.

Shannon Clark - Junior Coach - Bryan Aquatic Center/TAMU Rec Center
Originally from New Jersey, Shannon began swimming competitively at the
age of 4. She has been involved with the sport of swimming for the
better part of 20 years. As an age-group swimmer, Shannon held New
Jersey Age Group State Records in the 100 backstroke and 200 IM. At age
12 she was the youngest swimmer in her team's history to qualify for
YMCA Nationals. In college, Shannon swam for Ohio University in Athens,
Ohio where her specialties
were the 100 and 200 backstroke.
Shannon has continued to be involved in swimming through her children,
Tyler (20) and Haley (18) who have been active members of
the Aggie Swim Club for the last 10 years. She has been the Club's
Administrator for the last 10 years and has coached Novice, Age Group
Development, Age Group and Junior programs with the Club since 2002. She also
coached with the College Station Tsunamis during the 2004 summer season
and worked with the Bryan Barracudas during the summers of 2005, 2006
and 2007.
Shannon is also the Director of the Texas A&M University Swim Camp.

Ben
Tsang
- Novice/Age Group Development Coach - Bryan Aquatic Center/CSMS
Originally
from Stafford, Texas, Ben grew up competing with the Stafford Swim Team, a
local summer league program, from age 6 to 18. He competed for
Bellaire High School for four years, then became a masters swimmer for the
Houston Swim Club. Ben coached the Stafford Swim Team for five summers
and has also taught learn to swim programs locally.
Ben is
currently attending Blinn College with plans to transfer to Texas A&M and
major in English. In his spare time Ben likes to read and eat.
He enjoys watching swimmers grow as individuals and swimmers as their skills
improve and making a positive impact on their lives.

Dane
McReynolds
- Age Group Development Coach - Huntsville Aquatic Center
Dane is
currently an English major at Sam Houston State University and also owns a
small business printing t-shirts. He enjoys triathlons and rock climbing in
his spare time. Dane was recently married in 2010.
Dane grew up
swimming summer league in Tomball, TX and competed through his four years of
high school.
Dane enjoys
helping swimmers progress through the sport of swimming, something he feels
is a very fulfilling job. He enjoys watching the swimmers them build
relationships that last a lifetime.

Tom
Dawson
- Age Group Development Coach - Huntsville Aquatic Center
Tom enjoys
watching swimmers learn and get faster over time. Tom swam at Cy-Fair
High School and competed with Cy-Fair Swim Club (CFSC/FLEET) through high
school. He went on to Texas Tech where he swam on the team for one
year. Tom has been a USA official for both the Huntsville Lakers and
the Aggie Swim Club for the last three years.
Tom is
currently a member of the Huntsville Police Department.

Cale
McQuitty
- Age Group Coach - Huntsville Aquatic Center
Cale is
originally from Missouri City, TX where he started swimming during his 8th
grade year. He competed through high school, earning the spot of team
captain in his senior year.
He is
currently attending Sam Houston State University majoring in Business. He enjoys swimming, surfing and playing the guitar.
Cale enjoys teaching swimmers about a sport he has grown to love.

Matt Wagner - Senior/HS Auxiliary Coach - Huntsville Aquatic Center
Born in
Milwaukee, WI, Matt has been in Texas since 1977. He has a PhD in
Kinesiology and is currently an Assistant Professor at Sam Houston State
University in Huntsville. Matt also owns the Nautilus Health Center in
Huntsville and is a personal trainer working with high risk clients.
Matt's
swimming history started in high school and continued through college where
he began competing in triathlons and eventually completed an Iron Man
triathlon. He has been coaching with the Huntsville Lakers summer
league team since 2000 and began working with the Aggie Swim Club as a Meet
Director in 2008. His twin sixteen year olds, Jaron and Sierra,
compete with the Club.
Matt expects
his swimmers to give him 100% and in return he promises to give them 100%.
He enjoys utilizing his background in kinesiology to help kids improve and
the satisfaction he receives from watching them improve.
