Why
should the Aggie Swim Club be your choice? Here are our reasons,
success stories and accomplishments.
1) We
have been an experienced
and registered year round USA swimming team since 1986.
2) The AGS currently has
over 275 members from Bryan, College Station, Brenham, Huntsville, Navasota
and surrounding areas.
3) We train at 4
convenient locations: Huntsville Aquatic Center, TAMU Rec Center,
College Station Middle School and the Bryan Aquatic Center and practices are
at convenient times at each location.
(Note: Bryan
Aquatic swimmers move to the TAMU Rec Center during winter months and bad
weather).
4) We offer 6
levels of progression to fit the needs of developing athletes:
Novice, Age
Group Development, Junior Age Group, Age Group, Junior and Senior.
5) We have 12 USA
registered coaches including Steve Bultman, the Ags Club Director, TAMU
Head Women's Coach and 1988 and 2008 Olympic coach. All coaches attend stroke
clinics on an annual basis to renew and update their coaching abilities.
6) We offer
motivational awards programs for all swimmers, including Ladder of Success
awards, Personal Best Time awards, Goal Time Achievement awards, among
others.
7) We hold free
Team Intrasquad meets as introductions to competition every month at the
College Station Middle School or TAMU Rec Center utilizing the
scoreboard, electronic timing system and lots of awards.
8) We
have spring and summer awards banquets and several team functions to build
friendship and provide a fun and friendly atmosphere and build team unity.
9) We provide
free stroke clinics twice a year for all swimmers, both featuring Steve
Bultman.
10) We have coaches who
work with local summer league programs in our community each year.
11) We
work closely with the coaches of both the Bryan and College Station High
School teams. The College Station HS coach has been an Ags club coach
for over 10 years and the Bryan HS coach has worked with the club for the
last year.
12) Our
Club has placed in the top 3 at the 14&Under fall/winter and spring champs meets four years in
a row,
13) We had 15 TAGS (Texas Age
Group Swimming) Championship qualifiers for Summer, 2011. (TAGS is the
premiere age group championship meet in the State of Texas each year).
We had 20 TAGS swimmers for Fall/Winter, 2011.
14) We
had 8 USA Sectionals qualifier for Summer, 2011. We had 13 USA Sectionals qualifiers for
Fall/Winter, 2011. (Sectionals is one of the
premiere national senior meets each year).
15) We
had 11 swimmers selected for the Summer, 2011 Gulf Zones team based on their
times between April 1, 2011 and June 25, 2011. The Zones meet was held
in Cary, North Carolina the first week in August and included elite competitors
from
Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia,
Mississippi, Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee and Alabama.
16) We
had 5 swimmers compete in the NCSA Junior National Meet in Orlando, Florida
in March, 2011. One of those swimmers qualified for Senior Nationals
at the meet!
17)
We had 1 swimmer compete in the Winter Junior National Meet in Atlanta,
Georgia in December, 2010.
18)
We had 2 swimmers compete in the Summer Junior National Meet in Palo Alto,
California in August, 2011.
19) We have had
Gulf Swimming Ladder of Success Top 5 Ranked Athletes in each of the last 16
seasons (fall/winter 2003-2004, spring/summer 2004, fall/winter 2004-2005,
spring/summer 2005, fall/winter 2005-2006, spring/summer, 2006, fall/winter
2006-2007, spring/summer 2007, fall/winter 2007-2008, spring/summer 2008,
fall/winter 2008-2009, summer 2009, fall/winter 2009-2010, summer 2010,
fall/winter 2010-2011, summer 2011).
20) The Club has
placed one or more athletes on the Texas A&M Men's and/or Women's Swimming
Teams in 8 of the last 11 seasons. Hayden Duplechain is the newest
athlete, making the move in August, 2011.
21) We
have had swimmers named to the USA Swimming All-America Scholastic Team in
each of the last five seasons.
The Scholastic All-America Team is comprised of high school
student-athletes, who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and have
competed in an individual event in the 2009 ConocoPhillips Summer Nationals,
2009 Summer Speedo Championship Series (Sectionals), 2009 U.S. Open, 2009
World and WUG Trials, 2009 Speedo Championship Series (Sectionals), 2009
National Disability Championships and/or 2009 Open Water National
Championships.
22) We
have coaches who are as dedicated to the sport as their swimmers.
Coach Ryan Goodwyn swam the English Channel in 60 degree water for 11 hours,
Summer, 2004!! Coach Henry Clark has been a Master's World Record
Holder and National Champion in multiple events for several years.
