   AGGIE SWIM CLUB  

 
Why should the Aggie Swim Club be your choice?  Here are our reasons, success stories and accomplishments.
 
1) Experienced and registered year round USA swimming team since 1986.
 
2) AGS currently has over 250 members from Bryan, College Station, Brenham, Huntsville, Navasota and surrounding areas.
 
3) We train at 4 convenient locations: Huntsville Aquatic Center, TAMU Rec Center, College Station Middle School and the Bryan Aquatic Center and practices are at convenient times at each location.
(Note: Bryan Aquatic swimmers move to the TAMU Rec Center during winter months and bad weather).
 
4) In addition to our Masters and High School Auxiliary programs, we offer 5 levels of progression to fit the needs of developing athletes:
Novice, Age Group Development, Age Group, Junior and Senior.
 
5) We have 10 USA registered coaches including Steve Bultman, the Ags Club Director,  TAMU Head Women's Coach and 1988 Olympic coach.  All coaches attend stroke clinics on an annual basis to renew and update their coaching abilities.
 
6) We offer motivational awards programs for all swimmers, including Ladder of Success awards, Personal Best Time awards, Goal Time Achievement awards, among others.
 
7) We hold free semi-monthly Team Intrasquad meets at the TAMU Rec Center utilizing the scoreboard, electronic timing system and lots of awards.
 
8) We have spring and summer awards banquets and several team functions to build friendship and provide a fun and friendly atmosphere.
 
9) We provide free stroke clinics twice a year for all swimmers, both featuring Steve Bultman.
 
10) We have coaches who work with local summer league programs in our community each year.
 
11) The Aggie Swim Club placed 3rd overall at Gulf Winter Champs, 2004, behind The Woodlands and Cy-Fair.  The Club again placed 3rd overall at Gulf Winter Champs, 2005, behind Blue Tide Aquatics and First Colony.  There was only a 6-1/2 point difference between second and third place.  Again in 2006 the Club placed 3rd overall.
 
12) 21 TAGS (Texas Age Group Swimming) Championship qualifiers for Summer, 2007.  (TAGS is the premiere age group championship meet in the State of Texas each year).
 
13) T-16 and nationally ranked relay swimmers:
      (Long Course, 2006):
10&Under 200 meter freestyle relay team of Logan Beverly, Brittany Thurstin, Sierra Wagner and Zulean Cruz.  The girls swam a time of 2:16.19, placing 6th at TAGS.
 
14) T-16 and nationally ranked individual swimmers:

       48th in the U.S. - 50 freestyle - 31.24

15) 13 USA Sectionals qualifiers for Spring, 2008.  (Sectionals is one of the premiere national senior meets each year).  The Aggie Swim Club placed 18th overall.
 
16) We have had Gulf Swimming Ladder of Success Top 5 Ranked Athletes in each of the last 9 seasons (fall/winter 2003-2004, spring/summer 2004, fall/winter 2004-2005, spring/summer 2005, fall/winter 2005-2006, spring/summer, 2006, fall/winter 2006-2007, spring/summer 2007, fall/winter 2007-2008).
 
Ladder of Success Swimmers - 2007 Long Course Season:
(Gulf Swimming's Ladder of Success names the 5 fastest swimmers (male and female) in each race for the entire year in all of Southeast Texas for 18&Under athletes.  Currently there are over 4500 swimmers registered in Southeast Texas).

17) The Club has placed one or more athletes on the Texas A&M Men's and/or Women's Swimming Teams in 6 of the last 8 seasons.  Maria Sommer is the newest athlete, making the move in July, 2007.
 
18) We had 1 qualifier for the 2007 Short Course Senior National Meet in Albany, New York - Jonathan Jackson in the Men's 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle.
 
19) Our Men's 400 Yard Medley Relay team of Raul Lopez-Juarez, Spencer Hall, Henry Clark and Jonathan Jackson qualified for the 2007 Senior National Meet.
 
20) We have had swimmers named to the USA Swimming All-America Scholastic Team.  The Scholastic All-America Team is comprised of high school student-athletes, who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and have competed in an individual event in the 2004 ConocoPhillips Summer Nationals, 2004 Summer Speedo Championship Series (Sectionals), 2004 U.S. Open, 2005 World and WUG Trials, 2005 Speedo Championship Series (Sectionals), 2004 National Disability Championships and/or 2004 Open Water National Championships.  Maria Sommer was the latest in fall, 2005.  Maria competed in the Speedo Championship Series (Sectional) Meet.
 
21) We have coaches who are as dedicated to the sport as their swimmers.  Coach Ryan Goodwyn swam the English Channel in 60 degree water for 11 hours, Summer, 2004!!
 
22) Masters Nationally Ranked swimmer, Henry Clark (50, 100 and 200 butterfly) is an active member of the team and a member of the Board.

Forty-one year old Aggie Swim Club swimmer, Henry Clark earned the title of Masters Swimming World Champion by winning the men’s 40-44 100 meter butterfly at the XI FINA Masters Swimming World Championships held at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.  His winning time (58.20) broke the championship meet record previously held by Russia’s Alexey Filonov (58.86).  Henry also placed 4th in the men’s 40-44 200 meter freestyle (1:59.25), also under the previous championship meet record), 5th in the 100 meter freestyle (54.85), 6th in the 50 meter butterfly (26.89) and 4th in the mixed 160+ 200 meter freestyle relay. The XI FINA Masters Swimming World Championships were held over August 4-17, 2006 where over 7,200 people from 75 countries (ranging in ages between 25-92) competed in the five aquatic disciplines - Synchronized Swimming, Open Water Swimming, Water Polo, Diving and Speed Swimming.
